Mikebee has music in his blood, heart and soul - whether it be through his dance orchestra-leading grandfather in the 30's and 40's, his classically-trained background or his current immersion in sound 24/7, the man and his music are practically synonymous. Picking up the DJ bug in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1991, Mike discovered the joy of mixing and  Techno and UK Hardcore records after getting caught up in the early east coast rave scene, but was unable to afford regular record buying to start spinning professionally. He moved to San Francisco in 1994 and caught the fire once again, this time seduced by the sounds of LTJ Bukem and Atmospheric Drum & Bass, and thanks to a chance encounter snagged his first residency at a debut club night called Ikon Massive in '95, which eventually became the title of Mike's first mix CD

Not long after, he became resident at the long-running home of SF Atmospherics, La Belle Epoque from 1997 through 2000. Future Breaks FM founders Push, Ms. E and Gabe Real enlisted Mike in 1998 to deliver the weekly D&B news-centered Knowledge Report, and he's been a part of the crew since, contributing DJ sets as well as conducting on-air interviews with the likes of Blame and Alex Attias. In addition to having DJ'd for nearly every breaks-friendly promoter in SF, Mike co-founded True Intent Recordings with Gabe Real and DJ Sea in 2000, dedicated to releasing quality atmospheric D&B, and in recent years Mike's musical focus has shifted from Drum & Bass to slower-tempo genres like 2-Step Garage and the Nu Jazz/Broken Beat hybrids he currently prefers. Promoting Bottom Heavy with the rest of the TI/FBFM crew, Mike looks forward to continually rocking The Top's dancefloor with the freshest forward-thinking breakbeat tunes around.
